The Lab Technician will be responsible for analyzing testing requirements, interpreting and applying testing methods and procedures, and analyzing test results. Our Lab Technicians need to be able to gain a complete and thorough knowledge of our products in order to optimize the lab's performance level.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Set-up and conduct tests according to verbal instruction or written test specifications.
- Properly and accurately collect test data.
- Prepare formal test reports following established format, clearly and accurately documenting test set-up, methodology, results and conclusions.
- Operate electronic or mechanical instruments and machinery.
- Monitor and maintain on-going and long-term tests.
- Perform assembly, modification and installation following verbal or written instruction.
- Maintain all necessary lab records, documents, forms and logs.
- Perform spontaneously required as well as scheduled equipment maintenance.
- Make precise and accurate mechanical and electrical measurements following conventional commonly accepted methods.
- Closely follow a precise schedule of monitoring and maintaining ongoing and long-term tests.
- Perform assembly, modification and installation work following Engineering instruction.
- Design and sketch any required fixturing for submission to machine shop.
- Build or modify fixtures when appropriate.
- Provide and maintain all necessary lab records, documents, forms, matrix and logs.
- Modifies existing test methods and generates drafts of new test methods for review and release by Test Specialist.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- Two years of post-secondary education (college or trade school) with an emphasis on mathematics, engineering, computer science etc. A four year degree is preferred.
- A minimum of ten years work experience is also required with at least five years of solid experience in a test laboratory or engineering position.
- It is highly preferred that the candidate have exposure to high volume manufacturing of motorized products. Consumer applicane , electronic or automotive product experience a plus.
- Ability to lift 40 + pounds. Ability to also hold arms above head for extended periods of time and climb ladders.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
